Maghera

St Donard (d 507) is said to have founded the monastery at Maghera. He lived as a hermit on the top of nearby Slieve Donard and used the stonework of prehistoric cairns for his cell and his oratory. There are 2 cross slabs, a round tower and church built on the early foundations.
